Sales leads can be generated by a company's Web site. Whether you're selling jumbo jets or Girl Scout cookies, the basic principle of sales is the same -- there's no sale if there's no client. Finding clients can be an expensive, time-consuming, often failure-ridden process. Picture those poor Girl Scouts going door-to-door with their Thin Mints and Samoas: half the people aren't home; six homeowners just went on a diet; and the competition is stiff (Becky and Nancy are working the same turf!). The first, and, some say, most difficult task for any salesman is generating sales leads. Sales leads aren't clients; they're potential clients. For example, realtors used to rely heavily on costly newspaper ads to generate inquiries. In this HowStuffWorks article, we'll cover some of the most popular techniques for generating and managing sales leads, including helpful technology for tracking and nurturing leads from first contact to closing. Let's start by exploring the basics of generating sales leads.|Google has methods of detecting click fraud, and it doesn't charge advertisers for clicks it finds to be fraudulent. Find out how click fraud works. View more popular Web site pictures. In February 2007, Google revealed its current click-fraud estimates for its advertising program. In recent years, Google has faced criticism and several lawsuits related to its response to click fraud, which is basically a click on an ad that is not the result of any genuine interest in what that ad is offering. Other search engines and Web-marketing companies have the same problem, but Google's prominence in the industry makes it a much larger target for scrutiny. Ninety-nine percent of Google's revenue comes from advertising, and undetected click fraud results in increased ad revenue (at least in the short run -- read on). Click fraud is one of those seemingly incongruous concepts that sometimes arises with new uses of an existing technology. Lots of sites that publish regular information have their own RSS feeds, like Marshall Brain's BrainStuff weblog. The trouble with living in the Information Age is paradoxical: There's too much information. It's everywhere. How are you supposed to keep track of all the news, sports, weather and blogs you follow? Better yet, how are you going to do that and find time for work, school and family? If you're addicted to the constant flow of data that we know as the Internet, you're not going to be able to manage it without some help. One way to keep track of it all has grown very popular since its introduction in 1997: RSS. Short for Really Simple Syndication (at least now -- more on that later), RSS is a way to subscribe to a source of information, such as a Web site, and get brief updates delivered to you. When you subscribe, you'll get a feed -- often a series of headlines and brief summaries -- of all the articles published on that particular Web page.|BGMI latest update: The South Korean game developer Krafton on Monday revealed Battlegrounds Mobile India (BGMI)'s all new Royale Pass 8 for the gaming community in India. Russian-backed rebels seized a swath of Eastern Ukraine, and Russia annexed Crimea from Ukraine in 2014 after protests toppled Ukraine's pro-Russian leader. Kyiv says more than 14,000 people have been killed in the conflict in the east. The separatist leaders in Eastern Ukraine have declared a full military mobilization after ordering women and children to evacuate to Russia, citing the threat of an imminent attack by Ukrainian forces, which Kyiv denied. Kyiv and Western leaders say the mobilization, evacuation and increased shelling across the ceasefire line this week are part of a Russian plan to create a pretext for an invasion. Russia's FSB security service said two shells landed on Russian territory near the border, Russia's Tass news agency reported. One hit a building in Rostov region, but no one was hurt, it said. Ukraine's military accused Russia of faking pictures of shells to make out they were Ukrainian, and said mercenaries had arrived in separatist-held Eastern Ukraine to stage provocations in collaboration with Russia's special services. Ukraine's foreign minister demanded an independent international investigation of the alleged incidents, and the military said two soldiers had been killed in shelling by pro-Russian separatists in Eastern Ukraine. The two Russian-backed, self-proclaimed republics in Ukraine's Donetsk and Luhansk regions were hit by more than 1,400 explosions on Friday, the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) said. And almost 2,000 ceasefire violations were registered in the area by OSCE monitors on Saturday, a diplomatic source told Reuters. Multiple explosions were heard overnight into Sunday in the center of the separatist-controlled city of Donetsk, a Reuters reporter said. The blasts' origin was not clear. There was no immediate comment from separatist authorities or Kyiv. Tatyana, 30, who was boarding a bus with her four-year-old daughter. Russian news agencies said 10,000 evacuees had arrived so far in Russia. The separatist authorities say they aim to evacuate 700,000 people.|Students admitted to Duke University beat the odds in the school's rigorous and highly competitive admission process. See more investing pictures. Planning for college can be one of the most exciting times in a young person's life. But it can also be stressful, because there's a lot that has to happen before you're actually moving into your new dorm room. The process of selecting a college or university and applying for admission probably starts around the time you take your PSATs and concludes (happily, we hope) by April of your senior year in high school when you're notified of your status (acceptance or rejection) at the college of your choice. Whether you are a student or a parent, the entire college admission process can seem mysterious. In this article, we'll make the admissions process much more understandable. With the help of Duke University director of undergraduate admissions Christoph Guttentag, we will use Duke University in Durham, N.C., as a real-world example of how college admission works in America.
Ukraine attacks Structural qualities which describe how the structure will respond to certain stacking conditions. 2. Nodes are appointed at a certain thickness throughout the material depending on the load. Areas which will get imposing sums of loading will commonly have a higher nodal thickness than those which encounter small or no loading condition. 3. Special concern would comprise of: fracture of earlier constructed component, corners, and elevated loading areas. 4. The mesh acts similar to a spider web which extends up to adjacent nodes. These analyzed elements are then assembled to form the components which form the building. In FEA Analysis quantities which varies with clients guidelines and construction demands are mass, temperature, stress, strain, force, density etc. Different loading techniques such as nodal load, air pressure, thermal dynamic, static etc can be implied. Anisotropic is totally different throughout. STRUCTURAL ANALYSIS: Linear. Non-Linear models are part of this analysis. In linear models simple parameters are analyzed whereas in Non-Linear plastic deformation and stress up to deformation is of main concern. VIBRATIONAL ANALYSIS: It is used to calculate the impact of vibrations on the material and how much it can withstand after which it will result in resonance and finally component failure. FATIUGE ANALYSIS: Fatigue means the capability of the material to tolerate the load and its life pertaining to these changes. This helps in determining the area where maximum load will be anticipated which shows the tolerance level of that material. THERMAL ANALYSIS: It calculates the thermal capacity of the structure. This also includes thermal fluid dynamics as well as steady state transfer associated with constant thermo properties of the material. Some of the seeds that we extracted from the footprints. Our discovery may also reopen speculation about other archaeological sites in the Americas. One of them is Chiquihuite Cave in Mexico. Archaeologists recently claimed that evidence from this cave suggests humans occupied the Americas around 30,000 years ago - 7,000 years before people left the White Sands footprints. But the Chiquihuite Cave findings are disputed by some, as stone tools can be difficult to interpret and tool-like stones can form via natural processes. Stone tools can also move between layers of sediment and rock. Fossil footprints can't. They are fixed on a bedding plane, and so provide more reliable evidence of exactly when humans left them. Yet the White Sands evidence is suggestive of a playful, relatively relaxed setting, with teenagers and children spending time together in a group. This is perhaps not that surprising. Children and teenagers are more energetic and playful than adults and therefore leave more traces. Adults tend to be more economical in their movement, leaving fewer tracks. But another interpretation of this new footprint evidence is that the teenagers were part of the workforce in these early bands of hunter-gatherers. It's possible that the tracks were left by young people fetching. Carrying resources for their prehistoric parents. In any case, the people that left their tracks on White Sands were some of the earliest known American teens. Set in stone, their footprints pay tribute to their forebears, who we now know walked the long land bridge into the Americas millennia earlier than what was commonly believed. What White Sands might have looked like 23,000 years ago. This article is republished from The Conversation under a Creative Commons license. You can find the original article here. For the last decade, armies of bark beetles have been devastating forestlands in California and other places, and scientists are fighting back. To do so, they need citizen scientists - aka the general public - to trap the tiny bugs, which are as small as a grain of rice, and mail them back to their labs for DNA studies. The only problem? People don't keep laboratory-grade preservatives at home. So how could the beetles' DNA remain intact until it reached their labs? The answer, researchers found, resided in two common household products: hand sanitizer and automobile antifreeze. During the study, conducted by researchers at the University of Florida, 33 ambrosia beetles were left for two or seven days in either 95 percent ethanol (the control); hand sanitizer; or propylene- or ethanol-based automobile antifreeze. However, they're very different from Optimus Prime. With self-reconfigurable robots, the engineer typically prefers to keep the individual, mobile modules small, simple, inexpensive, and interchangeable; in the case of Optimus Prime, however, we are dealing with a robot whose individual modules are as large as the cab of a semi truck. Even if building such modules were possible, the expense would be exorbitant, and the extraordinary complexity would make it virtually impossible to ever get all of the systems operating properly together. If engineers figured out how to make interchangeable modules on Optimus Prime's scale, it might still be impossible to provide the power to move them. In his vehicle form, Optimus Prime can run on ordinary diesel fuel. But walking is far less efficient than rolling on wheels. In order to walk, Prime would need far more power than a diesel engine could provide. Traditional robots are built upon one of three power sources-electric, pneumatic, or hydraulic. Due to the extreme weights involved, hydraulic power is the most likely source for Prime, because hydraulic actuators provide very high power-to-weight ratios (large power output for small power inputs).|A new analysis of hip injury seasonality finds that elderly patients are actually less likely to experience an injury in colder months. It's no secret that wintry weather conditions cause slip and fall hazards. It's not difficult to imagine the increased risk of injury to the elderly who venture outdoors only to slip, fall and break a hip. But that mental picture? It turns out that it's all wrong. A preliminary study presented in October 2017 at the annual meeting of the American Society of Anesthesiologists finds that, counterintuitively, the elderly don't have experience more hip injuries during the cold months when it's snowy or icy outside. Additionally, the vast majority of hip injuries actually take place indoors. The study followed 544 patients at the Hospital of Central Connecticut who were treated for hip fracture between 2013 and 2016, and uncovered some surprising information.3 percent of hip injuries throughout the year happen indoors.
But you might be surprised to learn how the ESRB assigns ratings - or, -more specifically, how they don't. The panel of ESRB raters does not actually play the game. Which might give you a pause. Are the raters - and there are at least three of them for every game - just looking at the box? Nope, they're actually given a detailed report from a publisher about the pertinent content in the game - "pertinent" meaning the content that is considered the most extreme, as well as the overall game in context. They also get a DVD of the pertinent content so they can judge it for themselves. In other words, it could be your mom. That's one reason they're not required to play the hours. Hours of gameplay for each game. Also, the ESRB argues, just playing the game wouldn't necessarily lead to a uniform and consistent rating. Now, how well does the rating system work? So to put it another way, your mom probably knows what she's talking about. Agnello, Anthony John. "The ESRB Ratings Work: 85% of Parents Understand The System." Digital Trends. Clark, Neils. Off-peak cooling systems don't only shift the demand for power to a different time of day, they create a more stable cooling environment that can deliver the same cooling capacity with less energy consumption. They bring less efficient, dirtier plants on line if they need them and buy energy from other power plants on the grid at premium prices, passing those charges along to their customers. They also expand their facilities when they can't meet current or projected demand. Making the energy grid more efficient by distributing the demand for electricity and reducing energy consumption by running air conditioning at optimal performance reduces greenhouse gas emissions and forestalls the need for more energy plants to handle the load. On the next page, we'll take a look at how off-peak cooling systems can work at night and still cool the air during the hottest part of the day. These coils circulate ethylene or propylene glycol.|Russian President Vladimir Putin, in a video address Wednesday, asserted that the country’s core interests were "non-negotiable" amid tensions with Ukraine - and with the U.S. But Putin also said Russia was "always open for direct and honest dialogue," and was willing to address "the most difficult issues" through diplomacy, according to reports. Putin’s remarks came on Defenders of the Fatherland Day, the Russian equivalent of Veterans Day in the United States, according to Max Seddon, Moscow bureau chief of The Financial Times of Britain. The comments also came as Putin - and what actions he might take next -- continued to be the focus of the globe as some 150,000 Russian troops remained close to Russia’s border with Ukraine and as the U.S. West announced sanctions intended to punish Moscow for what they see as unprovoked aggression against a sovereign nation. Putin says in the video, according to The Australian newspaper. Putin continued, according to an English translation in a video posted on Twitter by Britain’s Sky News. On Tuesday, President Biden announced new sanctions against Russia, citing what he described as "the beginning of a Russian invasion of Ukraine," following reports of Russian troops entering two breakaway regions in eastern Ukraine. In addition to amassed Russian troops, Biden said signs of Russia moving supplies of medical equipment and blood to the Ukraine border region were indications that Russia planned further military action. Sanctions, if Russia doesn't pull back, will include the halting of the Nord Stream 2 fuel pipeline project between Russia and Germany, Biden added. On Tuesday night, Russia claimed it had launched diplomatic relations with the breakaway regions in Ukraine. Putin also told reporters that Russia wanted Ukraine to drop its plans to join NATO and instead remain a neutral country, The Australian reported. It's 2012, and you find yourself in the precarious position of being a soldier in a military that's embattled against the United States. The caravan of armored vehicles you're a part of comes to a halt. An unmanned aerial drone has just appeared over the horizon, flying toward the caravan. You and several members of your platoon are ordered out of your vehicle to destroy the reconnaissance drone. You look upward to the curious sight of several small parachutes suspending what looks like canisters, drifting toward the caravan. Strangely, despite a crosswind that should be carrying the canisters away, you notice that each one is headed directly for a vehicle. You hear someone shout "cluster bomb!" in your native language, followed by a body-rattling, quick succession of explosions. Your vision blurs, you hear only a single high-frequency note.
